As the No. 6 seed, the Sterlington Lady Panthers await the Grace Christian-Houma Christian winner in the second round.
Sterlington has received a first-round bye in the girls Division IV soccer state playoffs. Brackets were released Tuesday by the Louisiana High School Athletic Association.
Awarded the No. 6 seed, the Lady Panthers will host the winner between No. 22 Grace Christian (11-12-2) and No. 11 Houma Christian (10-3-6) on Wednesday, Feb. 7. Sterlington is seeking its first postseason victory in the five-year history of the program.
First round games will be played Friday.
Sterlington (15-5-1) clinched its first district championship Thursday, Jan. 25 in Alexandria with a 6-2 victory Grace Christian.
Traveling to Winnsboro for the regular season finale Monday, the Lady Panthers played Franklin Parish to a 2-2 draw.
Sterlington and Grace were among four District 2 teams to qualify for postseason play. St. Frederick earned a first-round bye as the No. 7 seed while No. 18 Delta Charter visits No. 15 Opelousas Catholic.
Byes were awarded to the top eight seeds. Automatically advancing to the second round along with the Lady Panthers and St. Fred were Loyola, Ascension Episcopal, Episcopal of Acadiana, Isidore Newman, Catholic-New Iberia and Pope John Paul II.
State championships for all divisions will be played Feb. 21-23 at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Boys playoff pairings will be announced Wednesday.
