All-District 2-4A Team
Led by Offensive MVP Quaterius Hawkins, the Bastrop Rams claimed 10 spots on the first-team All-District 2-4A squad.
In his second year as the Rams' starting quarterback, junior Quaterius Hawkins' stat line indicates 3,108 yards and 32 touchdowns.
State quarterfinalist Neville claimed the remaining two individual awards after capturing its ninth straight district championship. End Anthony Freeman is the Defensive Player of the Year and Mickey McCarty is Coach of the Year.
Freeman and Neville guard Devin Phillips were named to the Louisiana Sports Writers Association's Class 4A All-State team while Quaterius Hawkins and teammate SirQuan Hawkins received honorable mention accolades.
Quaterius Hawkins is joined on the first-team All-District offense by center Carter Ellison, wide receivers Christian Smith and SirQuan Hawkins and running back Kyrese Lawrence.
Ellison, a second-year starter, is the only sophomore listed on the first-team offense, while Neville linebacker Javon Carter is the lone sophomore on the first defense.
Smith, a junior, made the first team as both a wide receiver and kick returner after catching 45 passes for 668 yards and seven touchdowns.
As the other half of the Hawkins-to-Hawkins combination, senior SirQuan Hawkins had a breakout season with 54 receptions for 819 yards and 10 TDs.
Lawrence, a junior, carried 60 times for 522 yards and five touchdowns.
Representing Bastrop on the first defense are sophomore end Denterrius McHenry, junior linebacker T.J. Blanch, and defensive backs Phillip Jackson and C.J. Mullens.
A second-team All-District tight end as a freshman, McHenry recorded 42 tackles and seven sacks while recovering three fumbles in his first year as a defensive starter.
Blanch, who spent the previous two seasons at defensive end, made a smooth transition to linebacker where he logged a team-high 85 tackles.
Emerging as a defensive playmaker, Jackson recorded 62 tackles, with three interceptions and four fumble recoveries. Despite playing most of the season on an injured ankle, the 5-7, 175-pound junior strong safety scored three defensive touchdowns — two on fumble returns and one on a pick-6.
Listed on the first team at flex, Mullens was in on 50 tackles as a junior.
Along with Neville guard Devin Phillips and Freeman, Smith and Mullens are repeat first-team honorees.
Named to the second team from Bastrop were senior running back Desi Holmes, sophomore defensive lineman Markell Peoples, sophomore defensive back A.J. Fenceroy and senior defensive back Lawrence Moore Jr.
Bastrop's honorable mentions are wide receivers Calvert Johnson and Celento Traylor, offensive lineman James Carter, defensive linemen Jordan Doaty and Quan Rhodes and defensive back Zedarrion Ridgell.
