Sterlington 55, Homer 42
Separating in the second half, the Sterlington Lady Panthers defeated Homer 55-42 Thursday night in the Sterlington Shoot-Out.
The first two quarters ended squared at 12 and 20 before Sterlington outscored the Lady Pelicans 19-11 in the third frame. Michaela Waters scored eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers, and Ashleigh Davis connected for five points with a trifecta as the Lady Panthers went ahead 39-31.
Davis was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line and Mullins and Waters tallied four points as the Lady Panthers won the fourth quarter 16-11.
Mullins headed the Lady Panthers' (11-8) scoring summary with 19 points, Waters pitched in 16, Davis 13, Jayla Stewart four, McKenzie Gray two and Madeline Rogers one.
Scoring for Homer (6-11) were Shakoyla Johnson and Jordan Shelton with 11 apiece, Shannon Turneer and Ashanti Glass with six each, Behinika Holyfield with five and Alex Champ with two.
Sterlington shot a solid 15-of-21 (71.4 percent) from the free throw line, while the Lady Pelicans made only 7-of-25 (28 percent).
