Beekman 38, Forest 35

FOREST — Daryl Seay scored nine of his 24 points in the fourth quarter as Beekman came from behind to top Forest 38-35.

Down by eight with 4:30 remaining, the Tigers turned it on late.

"We were able to get some turnovers off our press, which was huge for us," Beekman coach Joseph Waller said. "Daryl had a big game and Greg Tatum hit a big 3 down the stretch."

Tatum had six points and Chad Jones added a bucket as the Tigers outscored the Bulldogs 17-8 in the final period.

"Chad Jones came off the bench and had a big fourth quarter," Waller said. "He had several steals and a layup late in the fourth."

Beekman got off to a dreadful start. Forest (5-5) led 4-2 at the end of the first quarter, 9-7 at halftime and 27-21 after three.

"It was a slow start to say the least," Waller said. "We played better in the second half, especially in the fourth quarter."

Seay accounted for 17 points, including a trio of 3s, after halftime. Tatum pitched in eight points, with two each from Xavier Hargraves, Zak Wade and Jones.

Beekman (3-3) returns to the floor at home Tuesday night vs. St. Frederick (4-2). Starting time for the girls/boys double header is 6 p.m.
