Beekman 47, St. Frederick 24
MONROE — Pat Johnson and Jaylen Giesbrecht scored 13 points apiece as tournament host St. Frederick downed Beekman 47-24 Tuesday, March 21 at Marsh Gym.
St. Frederick led 5-3 at the end of a low-scoring first quarter. Receiving five points from Joe Seay, the Tigers tied the game 13-13 at halftime.
But the second half would belong to the Warriors. Bouncing back from a scoreless first half, Johnson put up five points as the St. Fred outscored the Tigers 21-7 in the third quarter.
St. Fred carried a 34-20 lead into the final frame and encountered minimal resistance the rest of the way.
Johnson poured in eight points in the fourth quarter to match Giesbrecht's 13-point effort. Tyler Harris added 11, Cameron Edwards and Seth Brown four and Nick Turrentine two for the Warriors.
Beekman made six 3-pointers, but could manage only two 2-point buckets. Joe Chandler was high scorer for the Tigers (1-2) with 10 points, including a trio of treys. Greg Tatum tallied nine and Joe Seay five.
Beekman takes the floor again Tuesday (Nov. 28) at Kilbourne. Starting time for the girls/boys double header is 6 p.m.
