Delhi Charter 56, Beekman 44

MONROE — Matt Hayman scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half as Delhi Charter upended Beekman 56-44 in the St. Frederick Tournament on Monday, Nov. 20.

Leading 19-17 at the half, the Gators extended the margin to 36-28 behind seven points from Hayman. Joe Chandler connected on a trio of 3-pointers to keep the Tigers in the game.

Delhi Charter outscored the foul-plagued Tigers 22-16 in the final frame. Although nobody fouled out, Chandler, Daryl Seay, Greg Tatum, Xavier Hargraves and Martez Mitchell all finished the game with four fouls. Hayman buried three treys, J'quan Polly tossed in five points and Desmond Longino added a three-point play. Seay accounted for 11 of Beekman's fourth quarter points with three 3-pointers.

Chandler zapped two of his seven 3-pointers in the first quarter and Polly tallied five points as the first quarter ended in an 8-8 draw.

Jalen Lockett scored five points in the second frame to help the Gators go up 19-17 at intermission.

Hayman was complemented by Polly with 16 points. DC also received seven points from Longino and Marcellus Crear Jr., six from Lockett and two from Ladarius Houston.

Chandler funneled home a game-high 21 points for the Tigers (1-1). Daryl Seay pitched in 14, Tatum four, Zak Wade three and Hargraves two.

Chandler and Daryl Seay combined for 11 3-pointers for the Tigers, while Hayman swished four of the Gators' seven long-range buckets.
