CANEY LAKE — Crappie fishing has been fair with best catches made on shiners or jigs around deeper tops. They have not moved to the deep area out from the dam just yet. Bass fishing has been fair with some fish caught in schools using Alabama Rigs and Rat-L-Traps. Some are also being caught on jigs, plastic worms and lizards. No report on bream or catfish. OUACHITA RIVER — Crappie fishing has been best fishing in the river lakes, up the bayou and around submerged tops in the river on jigs and shiners. LAKE D’ARBONNE — Crappie fishing has started picking up nicely especially around the Highway 33 and Highway 2 bridges in the middle of the channel. Some have also been caught around Gill’s Ferry. Shiners and jigs are both taking fish. Bass are feeding on shad with some good catches made on Rat-L-Traps and spinner baits. Bream have picked up a bit along the banks off Highway w. LAKE CLAIBORNE — The water is down 8-10 feet. Bass continue to hit soft plastics especially around the banks where the fish are chasing shad. Crappie are still hitting jigs fished around the submerged tops. A few catfish have been caught on trotlines. LAKE BRUIN — Bass fishing has been good using soft plastics and crank baits. They’re being caught at night around the lights and in 8-12 foot water during the day.
