CANEY LAKE — Crappie fishing has been fair with best catches made on shiners or jigs around deep tops. Bass in the 5-6 pound range have been caught on Rat-L-Traps, silver with red belly as well as jigs fished fairly deep. Soft plastics are picking up a few. No report on bream or catfish. OUACHITA RIVER — Sunken tops in the river are producing some nice crappie catches. Also some are being caught up the bayou around the stump lines. Sweet Tea, Gum Crop and the new Gold Member jigs are working best. Bass are fair along the edge of the drops on Speed Craws, crank baits and Rogues. LAKE D’ARBONNE — Boats are starting to accumulate in the channel around the Highway 33 bridge out from Jakes with crappie beginning to bite. Best jigs have bee Popsicle, Electric Chicken Mo-Glo, Pink Pearl, Blue Pearn and Monkey Milk. Hair jigs that are working include the 12 RT, 180, and 60. Bass have been best around deep grass on jigs, crank baits and soft plastics. Catfish are good; bream are slow. LAKE CLAIBORNE — The water is down to near 10 feet. A good many crappie are being caught around the sunken tops on jigs and shiners. Lots of bass are being caught fishing structure in 7-8 foot water with pink colors working best. Most have been hitting soft plastics. No report on bream, stripers or catfish.
