CANEY LAKE — The bass bite is picking up with a good many schooling fish caught on Rat-L-Traps and Alabama rigs. Some bigger fish are fair fishing deep humps with soft plastics and crank baits. Crappie are fair around deep brush and shiners or jigs. No report on chinquapins or catfish. OUACHITA RIVER — Crappie fishing has been fair to good fishing the channel or river lakes using shiners or jigs. Bass are fair at the junction of run-outs and the river. Shad-type lures are working best. For latest information, contact the Honey Hole Tackle Shop at 323.8707.

CHENIERE LAKE — The lake is down with road work going on which is limiting access to the lake. Contact the Honey Hole Tackle Shop at 323.8707 for latest information.

LAKE D’ARBONNE — Crappie fishing is improved with some nice fish caught along the edges of the channels or the deeper sloughs with shiners or jigs fished 7 feet deep in 12-foot water. Bass fishing has been fair to good fishing square billed crank baits targeting schooling fish that are chasing shad. Plastic frogs are also picking up a few fish. LAKE CLAIBORNE — The water is down at least seven feet, likely more. Lots of smaller sized schooling bass are being caught on topwater lures of shad imitation soft plastics. The crappie continue to bite around deeper brush on shiners and jigs. Bream fishing has been fair on worms and crickets, catfish are slow and the stripers are not showing up anywhere on the lake. LAKE POVERTY POINT — Bass are fair. Crappie are just beginning to bite around the boat slips and on the south end of the lake. Blue Thunder, Blue Grass have been picking up some fish. Catfish continue to bite cut shad and cold worms. For latest reports, call Poverty Point Marina at 318.878.0101.

LAKE YUCATAN — The water is at a standstill and should begin a slow fall by the weekend. Not many fishermen out but some nice crappie have been caught. Bass have been fair. For latest information, call Surplus City Landing at 318.467.2259.
