Delhi Charter 42, Beekman 6

Delhi Charter broke up a 7-6 game with three second quarter touchdowns on its way to a 42-6 victory over Beekman on Friday night.

Trailing 7-0, the Tigers scored on their second possession as Brock Jenkins targeted Ethan White on a 6-yard touchdown pass.

"I thought our offensive line had a good first half, and I thought our defense played really well," Beekman coach Wade McDonald said. "We had a few mistakes in the second quarter and the third quarter got a little rough."

Delhi Charter carried a 28-6 advantage into recess and Desmond Longino returned the second half kickoff 69 yards for a touchdown.

"There were some bright spots," McDonald said. "This is the best we've played them over the last three years. I know the score looks the same, but I thought we played a little better."

Mason Hale was an efficient 2-of-4 for 78 yards with TD passes of 41 yards to Joshua Polland and 37 yards to Longino. Hale also rushed 11 time for 62 yards and one score.

Michael Woods carried eight times for 74 yards and 1 TD as the Gators (3-3, 2-1 District 2-2A) picked up 219 yards on the ground.

Zeb Morgan (5 carries, 37 yards) and Chad Jones (2 receptions, 30 yards) were responsible for the bulk of the Tigers' offense.

With an open date coming up, McDonald gave the Tigers Monday off.

"We'll go in helmets Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and be back in full pads Monday," McDonald said. "We're going to work on some fundamentals this week."

Beekman (0-7, 0-3) returns to action Friday, Oct. 20 at home vs. Rayville.
