Glenbrook 9, Prairie View 3

Alyssa Martin and Hannah Mosley combined on a two-hitter as Glenbrook won a 9-3 decision over Prairie View in the regular season finale.

Reese Hanson's two-run single staked the Lady Apaches to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first.

Prairie View answered with two in its half of the first.

Kaitlyn Bader reached on a one-out error and moved to third on Elle Morgan's base hit. Bader scored on Maci Herrington's fielder's choice and Morgan crossed with the tying run on Kayla Hawthorne's RBI groundout.

Aubrie Dickson singled home the go-ahead run as Glenbrook went ahead to stay with three in the second.

Glenbrook widened the gap to 9-2 with three in the fourth and one in the fifth. Kate Marvin led off the fourth with a home run.

Prairie View added one more in the seventh when Hawthorne swatted a leadoff double, swiped third and beat the throw to the plate on Chloe Hobson's fielder's choice.

Martin, who struck out four, held the Lady Spartans to one hit through five innings for the win. Mosley worked the final two frames. Neither Glenbrook pitcher issued a walk.

Batting from the leadoff slot, Marvin homered, tripled and scored three runs to lead the MAIS District 4-2A district champion Lady Apaches at the plate. Dickson added a double and a single.

Hawthorne doubled and Morgan singled for the Lady Spartans.

Morgan was the pitcher of record for Prairie View, with Rachel Hankins in relief.

Prairie View, the third place team from District 5-2A, will be paired against the District 4-2A runner-up in the upcoming South State Tournament at Brookhaven (Miss.) Academy. Brackets will be released later this week.
