Prairie View 21, Greenville Christian 10
Kayla Hawthorne, Anna Grace White and Emma Goss all went 3-for-4 as Prairie View thumped the Greenville Christian Saints 21-10 Thursday afternoon in MAIS softball.
Sending 11 batters to the box, the Lady Spartans struck for a six-spot in the bottom of the first.
Anna Grace White led off with a double, moved to third on Kaitlyn Bader's infield single and scored the first run of the game on Elle Morgan's groundout. Bader later scored on an error.
With the bases clear, Maci Herrington singled and Rachel Hankins and Hawthorne walked to set up Chloe Hobson's sacrifice fly. Madi Crymes followed with an RBI single and Emma Goss cranked a two-run double as the Lady Spartans went up 6-0.
Prairie View never relinquished the lead.
Both teams pushed four runs across in the second.
Hawthorne's three-run, inside-the-park home run and Goss' RBI single enabled the Lady Spartans to open up a 10-4 advantage.
GCS gradually trimmed the deficit to 13-10 before Prairie View put the 10-run rule into effect with an eight-run sixth. Hankins' two-run double and White's two-run single fueled the outburst as the Lady Spartans batted around for the second time in the contest.
Hankins went 3.1 innings for the win, with Morgan getting the save.
Prairie View out-hit the Lady Saints 15-6.
Hawthorne slugged a home and two singles en route to driving in four runs. Goss also collected four RBI with two doubles and a single, while White was credited with two doubles, a single and three RBI. Rounding out the attack were Herrington with a double and a single, and Bader, Hankins, Hobson and Crymes with base hits.
Prairie View (4-0) will play in the River Oaks Tournament on Saturday.
