CANEY LAKE – Bass are schooling early in the mornings with some caught on topwater lures. Later in the day, best catches have come on drop-shot, finesse and trick worms in 8-15 foot water. Crappie fishing has been fair around the tops fishing 20 feet deep in 25 foot water. Shiners are working best this week. Bream fishing is fair to good on crickets and worms. LAKE D’ARBONNE – Look for the crappie bite to be best fishing the channel edges with shiners or a variety of jigs. The Zero, Blue Grass, Monkey Milk and Blue Pearl patterns are working best. Bass are going to be in the sloughs early with topwater lures such as the Chug Bug picking up some fish while Rat-L-Traps, Brush Hogs and jigs are working best later in the day. The bream and catfish continue to bite cold worms and crickets fished off the banks and on the flats. LAKE CLAIBORNE – Quite a few bass are being caught but most are running rather small. Spinners and Brush Hogs are taking the most fish. Crappie fishing is fair around the submerged tops on shiners or jigs. Bream and catfishing have slowed down quite a bit.
