Space for the free camp and cookout is limited to 100 youths ages 5-13.

The annual Talance Sawyer Back-2-School youth camp and cookout will be held Sunday, September 3 at Dotson Park.

Check-in begins at 4 p.m., with the camp getting underway at 5.

Hosted by the 720 Degree Gamers sports consulting group, the camp will be conducted free of charge. However, space is limited to 100 campers ages 5-13.

Registration is being conducted online (no phone calls or emails will be accepted) at Entry deadline is Friday, August 25 at 11:59 p.m.

Sawyer, a former Bastrop Rams football and basketball standout, went on to play defensive end for UNLV and the Minnesota Vikings.

This year's camp will also feature Martial Arts Hall of Famer "Soke" Dr. Benson Campbell, and Robin Holton, a former University of New Orleans and New Orleans Saints' cheerleader. Campbell and Holton are both Bastrop High graduates.

The camp theme is "Health & Fitness Awareness Through Team Work."

Campers are asked to wear black shorts. Camp T-shirts will be furnished. A meal will be served following the event.
