Prairie View 9, Claiborne 4

HAYNESVILLE — Elle Morgan drove in four runs and pitched a complete game as Prairie View repelled Claiborne Academy 9-4 Friday afternoon.

Breaking up a 4-all tie, the Lady Spartans exploded for five in the top of the sixth.

Six straight batters reached safely with one away. Singles by Chloe Hobson, Madi Crymes and Emma Goss loaded the bases with the top of the order due up. Anna Grace White walked to force in the go-ahead run and Crymes dashed home on a passed ball. Next, Kaitlyn Bader drew a free pass to reload the bases, and Morgan smashed a three-run triple to right field.

Prairie View went up 3-1 in the top of the second, but the Lady Rebels forged a 4-3 lead with one in the second and two in the fourth.

Morgan's RBI single in the fifth tied the game at 4-4. Goss reached on a leadoff error, White walked and Bader beat out a bunt single to set up the equalizer.

Morgan allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits, while striking out two and walking one.

Prairie View totaled seven hits as Morgan tripled and singled, Hobson singled twice and Bader, Crymes and Goss contributed base bumps.

Prairie View (3-0) returns to action Thursday at Greenville Christian.
