This year's Pelican State Youth Movement Camp will feature instruction in basketball, track, golf and football.
The Pelican State Youth Movement will hold its annual Multi-Sports Clinic Thursday, August 3 through Saturday, August 5.
Open to all youths ages 6-14, this year's camp will include instruction in basketball, track, golf and football.
Camp times are 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Thursday's activities will be held at Bastrop High, with Friday's session conducted at Morehouse Junior High. The camp concludes Saturday at Dotson Park.
Cost of the camp is $10. Parents/guardians are requested to register online at www.pelicanstateyouth.org or at the Bastrop Parks & Recreation Department, located in Room 224 of the City Hall Complex. All campers must be registered in order to receive clearance for participation.
Started in 2002 by members of Bastrop High's 1974-75 Class 4A state championship basketball team, the camp is dedicated to Ms. Inez Grant, a longtime P.E. teacher in the Morehouse Parish School System. This year's camp is a joint presentation of PSYM, the City of Bastrop and the Morehouse Parish School Board.
