CANEY LAKE — The bass are schooling early mornings with topwater lures taking some fish when they’re up top with smoke grubs and tail spinners working best when they’re submerged. Some bigger fish are being caught on soft plastics fished on deeper points. Crappie fishing has been fair fishing the deep tops with shiners working best. Bream fishing is good on crickets and worms. OUACHITA RIVER — Bass fishing has been best in the river lakes on lizards, speed craw, Brush Hogs and 10 inch worms. Crappie are in river lakes and the channel fishing jigs 8-10 feet deep in 15 foot water. Critter Glitter and Gum Drop jigs are working well. LAKE D’ARBONNE — Best reports are that lots of bream and catfish are being caught with best catches being made below the spillway on worms and crickets. The bass are around the grass around the sloughs and hitting grape-red soft plastics, Bandit crank baits and Rat-L-Traps. Crappie are around channel edges in the sloughs and creeks and hitting jigs fished 8-9 feet deep in 10-14 foot water. The Penny Back. Crystal Shad and Blue Grass jigs have been producing best. LAKE CLAIBORNE — Bass fishing has been best at night with some up to 4 pounds caught on soft plastics and dark spinners. Crappie are fair fishing jigs 12-15 feet deep around submerged tops sitting in 20 foot water. Bream have been good on worms and crickets. Catfishing has been good on noodles and trotlines using blood bait or chicken livers. fair to good on crank baits, topwaters and soft plastics.
