CANEY LAKE — The bass are schooling and when they’re up, the Whopper Flopper is working well. When they submerge, try the Hightower rig, a trick worm or a drop-shot rig. Some bigger fish are being caught on soft plastics fished on deeper points. Crappie fishing has been fair fishing the deep tops with shiners working best. Bream fishing is good on crickets and worms. OUACHITA RIVER — Best fishing for bass and crappie is the river lakes. Bass are hitting Baby Brush Hogs, spinners and Frogs while the crappie are best spider rigging jigs 5-6 feet deep in 8-10 foot water. Bream are good on crickets and worms. CHENIERE LAKE — The lake is down with road work going on which is limiting access to the lake. However, those who are able to get on the lake are catching bass, crappie and bream. Contact the Honey Hole Tackle Shop at 323.8707 for latest information.
LAKE D’ARBONNE — Good catches of bream and catfish are being made all around the lake on crickets and worms. The crappie fishing has been best fishing jigs 6-8 feet deep in 12-14 foot water. Best jigs this week have been the Popsicle, Cajun Cricket, Electric Chicken and Gum Drop. Bass are hitting fake frogs early around grass. LAKE CLAIBORNE — Bass fishing has been fair to good on crank baits, topwaters and soft plastics. Crappie fishing is fair fishing the 20 foot submerged tops with shiners or jigs. Catfishing has been good on trotlines using liver or blood bait. Striper fishing has been fair on schooling fish with the Rogue picking up some fish.
