District 2-4A track and field meet (girls)

CADEVILLE — Bastrop junior Briana Hall scored 26 points in the jumping events en route to earning the High Points award at Wednesday's District 2-4A track and field meet.

District was held at West Ouachita with the top four finishers in each event qualifying for Wednesday's Region I-4A Meet at Lee Hedges Stadium in Shreveport.

Hall won the long jump (16-02) and triple jump (34-03) while earning an additional six points for a three-way tie in the high jump (4-06). She was also fifth in the 100-meter hurdles (18.53) for a total of 28 points.

Bastrop placed 1-2 in the long and triple jumps as Casual Williams pushed Hall in both events. Williams recorded leaps of 16-00.50 in the long jump and 33-04.50 in the triple jump.

Rounding out the Lady Rams' scoring in the field, Tequila Winston and Puamafetai Vaai went 4-6 in the shot put at 27-08 and 26-00, and Joya Langham and Winston were 4-6 in the discus at 69-11.50 and 61-01.

Bastrop won four running events, including two relays.

Malaysia McClendon, Kiana Johnson, Tiffany Washington and Casual Williams were clocked at 50.03 in the 4 x 100 meters.

Johnson, Jakyra Langham, Washington and Williams moved the stick for a winning time of 1:47.82 in the 4 x 200m.

Bastrop is ranked No. 2 behind Huntington in both the 4 x 100m and 4 x 200m.

"We have a good group going to Regional," Bastrop coach Robert Bird said. "We have a chance to go to LSU (for the State Meet) in a few events."

In individual events, Washington won the 200m at 26.05 while Jakyra Langham captured the 400m at 1:04.59. Washington is ranked No. 1 going into the Regional Meet.

Johnson and Washington gave the Lady Rams a 2-4 result in the 100m with readouts of 12.60 and 12.64.

Bastrop's 4 x 400m relay team of Jakyra Langham, Trinity Norwood, Cortazja Perry and Destiny Cephus took fourth at 4:39.49.

Adding to the Lady Rams' scoring were Norwood, sixth in the 800m (3:01.94); and Malaysia McClendon, sixth in the 300m hurdles (59.19).

Tioga's Aaliyah Ballott and Neville's Marissa Perez joined Hall as double winners. Ballott won the shot put (35-00) and discus (114-11), while Perez was first in the 1600m (5:50.99) and 3200m (13:21.26).

Annabelle Yates of Neville won the javelin with a throw of 116-06, beating out her closest competitor by over 40 feet. Sarah Martel of West Ouachita took the pole vault at 7-0.

West Ouachita won the 4 x 400m relay with a time of 4:27.51 behind the efforts of Ally Dunn, Ashlee Sebren, Abigail Africa and Hannah Ivey.

Other winners in the running events were Vanessa Bingham in the 100m (12.55), Africa in the 800m (2:36.12), Olivia Holmes in the 100m (16.62) and Krysten Bosley in the 300m hurdles (49.15).

West Ouachita was awarded the team trophy with 160.50 points, followed by Neville with 137, Bastrop with 112, Tioga with 95.50, Franklin Parish with 27 and Grant with 16.
