Sterlington 9, Franklin Parish 1

Taking charge from the get-go, Sterlington posted a 9-1 victory over Franklin Parish on Friday night at Panther Park.

Sterlington scored three runs without a hit in the bottom of the first on three walks, an error, a hit batsman and Rebekah Wood's RBI groundout.

Kalee King lined a home run over the left field fence with one out in the third to bring the Lady Patriots within 3-1.

Sterlington answered with one in the fourth, three in the fifth and two in the sixth.

Carly Wilson singled with one out in the fourth, moved to second on a wild pitch, went to third on Sydnee Davis' grounder and scored the Lady Panthers' fourth run as Tanner Wilson reached via error.

K.B. Briley walked to start the fifth and Catherine Trichell doubled. Wood's squeeze bunt drove in Briley and Jada Smith doubled Trichell across. Smith went on to score on Amber Parnell's RBI groundout as Sterlington opened up a 7-1 lead.

Carson Lyon deposited a two-run homer over the center field fence with two down in the sixth to put a wrap on the scoring. Hannah Cross, who singled and stole second, was aboard for Lyon's clout.

Breanna Sylvestri allowed one run on five hits through four innings for the win. Madigan Stevens pitched three scoreless innings (one hit, two strikeouts, zero walks) to register the save.

Sterlington out-hit the Lady Patriots 8-6. Carly Wilson went 2-for-3, Lyon homered, Trichell, Wood and Smith doubled, and Cross and Davis singled.

King homered and doubled to lead the Lady Patriots (8-8).

Opening District 2-2A play, the Lady Panthers (10-7) visit Ouachita Christian on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
