Bastrop 48, Tioga 24

Star Johnson and Casual Williams combined for 48 points as the Bastrop Lady Rams handled Tioga 48-24 Tuesday night in the District 2-4A opener for both teams.

Tioga went ahead 10-6 midway through the first quarter as Aliyah Ballott put up five straight points, including a three-point play. Bastrop would hold the Lady Indians without a field goal for the next 19 minutes, 53 seconds.

Meanwhile, the Lady Rams went on a 20-6 rampage to put the game out of reach by halftime.

Six straight points by Johnson — two free throws and a pair of layups — put the Lady Rams ahead to stay.

Williams' open jumper from the perimeter after a Hall steal and two more buckets by Johnson upped the margin to 22-10 at the end of the first quarter.

Johnson added three buckets as the Lady Rams outscored the Lady Indians 10-1 in the second frame en route to building a 32-11 halftime difference.

Two 3-pointers by Williams keyed a 12-0 run to start the second half as the lead lead swelled to 44-11. Bastrop carried a 46-15 advantage into the fourth quarter.

Johnson totaled 24 points and Williams 14 for the Lady Rams (7-6, 1-0).

Ballott was high scorer for Tioga (5-11, 0-1) with eight points.

Bastrop is at home against Franklin Parish on Friday at 6 p.m.
