Crossett Scrimmage, Friday, 7 p.m.

Beekman will make its first preseason appearance Friday night in a three-way scrimmage at Crossett High School. Admission to the event is $5.

Drew Central (Ark.) will face Crossett at 7 p.m., followed by Beekman vs. Drew in the middle game, and Beekman vs. Crossett in the finale.

Each matchup will be played as a 15-minute quarter under game conditions, complete with special teams.

Beekman is entering its third season of varsity football, and its second year as a formal member of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association.

Among the Tigers' notable players are senior right guard Brandon Carmack, junior slot receiver Zeb Morgan, junior running back Johnny Gipson, junior linebacker Lucas Lara and junior cornerback Clayton Nunn.

Following the loss of virtually all of its skill position players, coach Sonny Nason's Crossett Eagles are making the transition from the spread to the double wing. The Eagles will rely on fullback Quan Duke and four veteran offensive linemen.

Cornerbacks Marcus Bornslater and Gregory Junior, a pair of three-year starters, spearhead the defense. Bornslater is also a threat on kick returns.

Beekman opens regular season play next Friday at home vs. LaSalle. All of the Tigers' home games will be played at Delta.
