Funeral services for Mr. Billy J. McKoin, 80, of Mer Rouge will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec.14, 2008 at the Chapel of Oak Woods Home for the Elderly in Mer Rouge with the Rev. Terry Mims officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.
Visitation with the family will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop.
Billy Jim McKoin, a retired farmer, was born Aug. 27, 1928 at Jones and he died Friday, Dec. 12, 2008 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Preston Perry and Ruth Dunigan McKoin and a sister, Marion Crawley.
He is survived by his sister, Margaret Ann Tietz of West Monroe; two brothers, Robert "Bob" McKoin and his wife Marilyn of Newellton, Jack McKoin and his wife Jeanette of Monroe; special uncles and aunts, Marvin and Rita McKoin of Bonita and Louie and Ernestine Crook of Oak Ridge; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers are Jay McKoin, Jody McKoin, Preston McKoin, Lee McKoin, Kelsey McKoin, Bobo Thames, Christopher Lee Jones and Michael Crawley.
The family wishes to extend a special "thank you" to Dr. Louie Crook, Dr. Danny Crook and the nurses and staff of The Oak Woods for the care and concearn given to Billy.
For those who wish, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
