A Bastrop man is behind bars after evading arrest for two months on drug charges.
Deputies with the Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Bastrop Police Department responded to a tip regarding Toney Davis, 30, 822 Todd St. Davis is wanted on four warrants totaling 1,000,000 in bond amounts.
Thursday night, the SO received a call stating Davis could be located on Daisy Street at a residence which the office has had numerous calls on in the past regarding drug trafficking.
Once at the residence, the occupants would not open the door and Davis fled out a side window. Dy. Tommy Freeland pursued Davis on foot and was able to apprehend him.
When deputies gained entrance into the residence, they noted several males inside. A search revealed marijuana and cocaine. Four adults and three juveniles were taken into custody and transported to the MPSO jail.
Among those arrested were Christopher L. Smith, 18, 1309 Daisy for possession of marijuana; Selvian Smith, 18, 2005 Saturn for possession of marijuana; Markiest A. Peoples, 17, 990 Amanda for possession of marijuana and Juantavis Scott, 20, 402 Sunflower for possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine and obstruction of justice. The three juveniles were also charged with possession of marijuana.
Davis was charged with 2 counts of distribution of cocaine, two counts of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and a fifth charge for possession of cocaine from the search of his residence on Dec. 11.
Sheriff Mike Tubbs commended the deputies and officers for sticking with the case.
“Davis is the last suspect from the Dec. 11 round-up and the deputies did a good job continuing to look for him and also a good job tonight locating and bringing him in,” said Tubbs.
