The Bastrop Fire Department received a 911 call at 7:18 a.m. Friday morning reporting a fire on the Collinston Road. Fire Prevention Officer David Jester stated that the Temple Deliverance Church of Bastrop had caught fire at the back of the building. The fire was contained to the exterior wall and attic, little smoke damage to the interior of the building. Jester said firefighters responded to the scene very fast and had the fire under control shortly after.
The state fire marshals office was called, as required, since the building was a church. Rick Abbott of the fire Marshall’s office came and took samples for testing. The results will be reported to the fire chief as soon as they are finished with the investigation.
