The Morehouse Parish School Board is scheduled to hold its regular May meeting to discuss the Reduction in Force plan.

The meeting will begin with roll call; prayer; a moment of silence for Sophia Watkins, teacher; the Pledge of Allegiance; and recognitions and awards.

Following those items, the board will consider approval of minutes for the regular April School Board meeting held on April 7 and the special School Board meeting held on April 21. They will also hear reports from the Building, Properties and Transportation Committee held on April 28 by Jeff Churchwell; from the Finance Committee held on April 28 by Lisa Chain; from the Student Affairs and Personnel Committee held on April 28 by Sylvia Reese; and monthly reports from various programs presented by Superintendent Tom Thrower.

After the board considers the second reading for the Assignment of Personnel Policy F-9.13 and bus requests, Thrower will report to the School Board about administrative transfers from the impact of the Reduction in Force plan and school closures. The final agenda item will also discuss these plans. The board will take action if needed to further the Reduction in Force and consolidation plans.

Before discussing further action, the board will go into executive session to discuss the litigation of the United States of America versus the Morehouse Parish School Board.

The agenda also has several personnel issues including a report of resignation; two requests for family medical leave, regular sick leave; 13 requests for family medical leave, extended sick leave; two requests for family medical leave under FMLA; one request for extended leave not under FMLA; two requests for leave without pay not under FMLA; and four retirements.
