Sheriff deputies made another significant seizure of guns, drugs and stolen goods Monday in conjunction with a considerable bust made last Wednesday.
Investigators with the Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted a search warrant at 715 Welch St. this morning which resulted in the recovery of stolen property from the two recent burglaries.
MPSO deputies and Bastrop police officers arrested Keith Dowles, 40, at the same location.
The investigation stemmed from a burglary that occurred on Jan. 29 at a residence in the vicinity of Cooper Lake Road. The door of the home had been kicked in and jewelry, a jewelry cabinet, a TV, cash and several firearms had been taken.
During the course of the investigation at Cooper Lake Road, officers also found items that had been taken from a residence in the vicinity of Brenda Drive about three weeks prior. Industrial lawn care equipment, tools, jewelry and several firearms were recovered from the earlier burglary.
“Investigators received information that some of the stolen property from those two burglaries was at this address,” said MPSO Sheriff Mike Tubbs. “Upon executing the warrant, we recovered two pounds of marijuana, a large quantity of crack cocaine and over $11,000.”
Tubbs said they also recovered jewelry, electronics and guns from the initial bust.
