A Bastrop women died Wednesday night after the vehicle she was driving crossed the center line and struck a 2008 Volvo tractor/trailer head-on. After the collision, both vehicles ran off the road way and the Volvo became engulfed in flames.
The 2001 Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by Barbara Evans of Bastrop, was traveling west on LA 2 near milepost 159.7 at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Volvo, identified as 50-year-old Richard West from Grenada, Miss., was taken to Morehouse General Hospital with minor injuries.
The Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office and the La. State Police Troop F responded to a call at about 10:40 p.m. Wednesday night regarding the two- vehicle collision.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash and impairment is unknown, but routine toxicology tests are pending.
At press time, State Police, as well as wreckers were still on the scene.
