Around 5 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 22 , a motorist was driving past the Hideaway Lounge on Hwy 165 when they noticed some unusual activity. They called Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office, notifying them of the situation.
When MPSO arrived on the scene, officers found the door had been heavily damaged and a large quantity of liquor was gone. According to the owner of the business, around $700 in alcohol was taken from the business. This alert motorist gave a description of the vehicle they had seen and deputies soon learned the suspects name. Donald Patrick, 39, was booked for one count of simple burglary. Investigator Lee Cleveland and Sgt. Scott Floyd recovered almost all of the stolen alcohol and Patrick is now in jail awaiting bond.
The Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office and The Bastrop Police Department are both asking for any information on the following thefts in the parish and city.
At 8:59 a.m. on Feb. 16 the MPSO received a call from a resident on the Airport Road. Apparently someone came into their yard and took four 17” Azul rims, with Kumho Estaca tires, valued at $500.
On the Lucy Hudson Road, a homeowner reported at 4:53 p.m. on Feb. 16, that someone had broken into a shop behind their home and took a Jonsared 20” chain saw valued at $800 and a Kraftman chain saw valued at $200.
As cold as it has been, the MPSO received a call on Feb. 20 from a resident on Crestwood. Someone took a central air conditioner valued at $2000 and a ceiling fan valued at $200.
The Bastrop Police Department is investigating a break-in at Morehouse Junior High School. On Feb. 18 suspects broke out a window, went into the school taking two laptop computers and one digital camera.
