To answer growing consumer demand for more high-definition television (HDTV) programming, Suddenlink today announced it has added three new HD channels to its cable TV lineup in Bastrop.

The channels – Travel HD (759), CNBC HD (760) and Bravo HD (761) -- can be found on Suddenlink’s “HD Basic” tier of service. They are available free to customers who lease the equipment required to enable HD viewing and subscribe to the standard definition feeds of these same channels on Suddenlink’s “Expanded Basic” service.

These new channels add to Suddenlink’s already robust lineup of popular HD programming, including the HD signals of the local CBS, FOX and NBC affiliates, HDNet, HDNet Movies, as well as the HD versions of TNT, Fox Sports Southwest, ESPN, ESPN2, Sci-Fi, The Learning Channel, Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, National Geographic, Home & Garden Television, Food Network, A&E, History, HBO, Showtime, and more.

HDTV offers a widescreen format, similar to a movie theater, with distinctly sharper images than standard TV.  It also provides better sound quality.  Not all networks or stations offer HD programming.

“We’ve made a major investment in the Bastrop area in recent years, upgrading our systems to provide HDTV, faster high-speed Internet services, and other products like digital video recorders, or DVRs,” said Bastrop System Manager Roland Miers.

For more information, Bastrop area residents may call Suddenlink toll-free at 1-800-915-1863 or visit the company’s local office at 1611 Park Loop Drive in Bastrop. To learn more about Suddenlink services in the Bastrop area, customers can visit the company’s Web site (www.suddenlink.com) and enter their zip code.
