Earlier on Friday, August 17, the Morehouse Sheriff's Department received a call regarding threatening texts from a Beekman Charter student that led authorities to believe she had intent to disrupt security and cause harm to her fellow students.

The officers coordinated with the school resource officer Randall Carrol and Principal Emily Myrick and removed the student from campus. She has been detained and her parents were called. No students were in danger at any time. The Sheriff's Office is in contact with the district attorney to determine if charges will be filed.

Sheriff Mike Tubbs says that at this time they have not found anything to suggest they were anything more than threats. The investigation is still ongoing. More information to follow.
