My name is Rick Hixon and I am formally announcing my candidacy for re-election to the Morehouse Parish School Board representing District 4. I have lived in Morehouse parish my whole life and am proud to call Bastrop and Morehouse Parish my home. I have been happily married to my wife LaDonna Hixon for forty-four years. We both are firm believers in the value of a good “Public Education”
I am currently a Senior Account Manager for DuBois Chemical Company serving the pulp and paper industry in North Louisiana and South Arkansas. My company has always encouraged and promoted my activity on the Morehouse Parish School Board. They have allowed me the time to do whatever is needed for our school system on a daily basis.
I firmly believe; as do many economic development experts; that any local public school system is the “Cornerstone” of the communities they serve. It takes the whole community coming together to move our city; our parish; and our school system forward. Any small business or industry; interested in coming to our community want to see all of our government bodies working together. This is the only way we can attract new businesses. They can increase our current tax base and put more money into the general fund of our city, parish, and school system. It is my commitment to work hard and promote harmony and cooperation among all our local governing bodies, economic development groups, and the Chamber.
It is our duty as school board members to provide the tools needed to give our students the best education possible in a disciplined environment; suitable for learning. We must make sure when our graduating seniors leave the Morehouse Parish School System they are equipped with the education that has them well prepared for the future. I can assure you I will continue working hard every day to achieve a successful outcome for our students and community.
Let’s make sure our community is competitive with our neighboring parishes. If we are; we can attract and retain excellent certified teachers, principals, and staff.
I humbly ask for your vote and support. Early voting begins on October 23rd and ends on October 30th.
Please Vote Richard “Rick” Hixon # 52 on Tuesday November 6th.
Let’s move our community forward!
