The Mer Rouge Town Hall accepted a bid of $1,577 out of Mississippi for a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe, previously used by the Mer Rouge Police Department, at their monthly meeting on Tuesday.

Mer Rouge Police Chief Mitch Stephens said the engine on the vehicle no longer worked and would not even turn over.

The only other bid offered was in the amount of $1,000, so the board approved a motion to accept the highest bid.

Stephens also gave his monthly report, stating that there had been 15 complaints, 11 traffic citations, four arrests and $308 collected in fines. He also said the Mer Rouge Police Department had worked with outside agencies five times.
