The Morehouse Council on Aging is offering water aerobic classes for senior citizens this summer from 8 to 9 a.m. every Monday through Thursday starting this week at the Smith-Wilson Park city pool.
MCOA Director Reggie DeFreese said he is thankful to be able to use the city pool on Elm Street for the classes.
"The instructor will be Beth Deville," he said. "She has been doing this for about 10 years now. Sometimes the classes draw a large crowd, sometimes not."
DeFreese said the classes are especially good for people who have had hip and knee surgery to help get joints working properly.
"They will do exercises with noodles for their back, hips and legs," he said. "It is really good on the joints. There are also lifeguards that will be there. We count this program as part of our Wellness Center."
Classes are only $5 a month and go all the way through July, he said.
To sign up for classes, stop by the Morehouse Council on Aging at 200 Elm St. For more information call 283-0845.
