It may be summer here in Bastrop, but the Toyota of Bastrop service department is getting a jumpstart on the new school year with their school supply drive intended to help the less fortunate students of Bastrop.
Toyota is holding a school supply drive all summer long and will donate the supplies to the children and teens of Bastrop who may be in need.
“Our goal is to stuff two Toyota Tundra's from the bed to the seats with supplies and uniforms to donate to all seven schools in the community,” Service Department Director Fredrick Marshall said.
Marshall returned as Service Director after having moved to Shreveport for a time and sees the project both as a way to reintroduce himself and to give back to the community.
“What this is about is letting people know that even though we service cars, we still serve the community,” Marshall said.
Marshall said they are asking for supplies such as crayons, notebooks and pens, as well as uniforms in all sizes. Money can be donated as well. He said they greatly appreciate any help given. The items will be bagged up and donated to all the schools of Bastrop. Marshall hopes this will have a good impact on the students.
“Hopefully they will have a better sense of community and know there are people that care about them and their future,” Marshall said. “I think kids deserve the best.”
Anyone who would like to donate can bring supplies, uniforms or monetary donations to Toyota of Bastrop on 2329 E Madison Avenue.
