Morehouse Community Improvement Organization Head Start Center held its last Systematic Training for Effective Parenting Workshop for this school year on Tuesday, May 15, and acknowledged the parents and staff who have attended consistently.
STEP class coordinator Catrina Goree said the class is a six-week parenting course that will be offered next year to parents and staff at MCIO Head Start.
"STEP stands for Systematic Training for Effective Parenting, and it is a support group as well," she said. "We have a book that we follow. We look at videos and discuss how to apply different things. There are nuggets of information throughout the class that help parents to be effective."
Goree said the class is usually seven weeks but has been made into a six-week course due to time restraints.
"We have about six parents who will be graduating today that we are very proud of," she said.
