Sandra Thomas Moorer, Morehouse Parish Registrar of Voters, was recognized by having the annual seminar dedicated in her honor when the Louisiana Registrars of Voters Association, Inc. met at their annual conference Jan. 31-Feb. 2 in Marksville. This coveted award is presented annually by the Board of Directors and the Seminar Committee to an individual or a group who has made a significant positive impact on the Association.
In presenting the award, Lin Stewart, Rapides Parish Registrar of Voters, thanked Sandra Moorer for her tireless service to the Association, to the citizens and voters of Morehouse Parish and to the State of Louisiana. Stewart noted that Moorer has served as Morehouse Parish Registrar of Voters for 42 years, and during this time has distinguished herself by serving the membership as President and in all facets of the Association.
As the Secretary-Treasurer of the Association, Moorer has the responsibility of handling the financial affairs of the Association, coordinating seminars, workshops and Board of Directors' meetings and all other responsibilities of the position. Moorer also serves as one of 10 trustees on the statewide Registrars of Voters Employees Retirement System, commonly known as ROVERS, a position she has held for a number of years.
Moorer holds a B.A. and MBA from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, formerly Northeast Louisiana University. She is also CERA certified, which is the national certification of Certified Elections Registration Administrators – the highest certification possible for Registrars of Voters and others in the elections field.
