As a precautionary measure, the Morehouse Parish Police Jury has declared a State of Emergency on March 27 to exist within Morehouse Parish and that all Emergency Preparedness plans and the Parish All Hazard Emergency Operations Plan be activated.
This emergency is declared due to "historic amounts of rainfall declared including the prediction of dangerous winds and more amounts of rainfall causing flooding and enormous damage to personal property."
The Louisiana Emergency Preparedness Guide stresses the importance of preparing for an emergency and having an emergency kit pre-assembled. It is also important to know the difference between different weather alerts such as watches and warnings and what actions to take for each.
The Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Office has free copies of the Emergency Preparedness Guide that include life-saving tips.
