For the fourth week in a row the Morehouse Humane Society’s “Arms for Animals” gun raffle has produced a winner. Pictured above is Megan Croswell of Simmons Sporting Goods holding the Glock 43 9mm pistol won in last week’s drawing by Bob Prestridge. The drawing on January 27th was for a Stoeger M3000 Shotgun and was won by Les Abernathy. MHS members and others have been selling the tickets since July and will be continuing to do so. Each Saturday the pick three winning number from the Louisiana Lottery is also the winning number for the MHS drawing. Shelby Carter won a gun in week two and Charles Hodgkins, Jr. won the gun designated for week three. The MHS has purchased 52 guns to be given away during 2018. Tickets are $50 each and anyone interested in purchasing a ticket may call the Chamber of Commerce at 318-281-3794. If any gun is not won in a particular week(s), a special drawing will be held during the first week in January of 2019. This will afford those who have purchased a ticket in 2018 to have additional chances to win. All proceeds will go to the MHS for the care of the homeless dogs and cats at the MHS Bastrop Animal Shelter.
