A group of ladies are setting up a historical display that will be ready for viewing at the Synder Memorial Museum beginning in February.
An African-American historical exhibit called the "Morehouse Parish Story" tells of the memorable past of African-American residents in the Morehouse area. The exhibit tells a story of those people, places and things, both past and present and includes 16 categories of interest: churches, schools, slavery, Civil War, past businesses, present businesses, arts and letters, firsts, clubs and organizations, doctorates, a time line, parks and recreations, athletes, who's who in farming, who's who and mayoral candidates.
The exhibit will begin in February and be available for viewing until March. Open house will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11. The Synder Museum is located at 1620 East Madison Ave., Bastrop.
