A body was found on Ouachita City Road in Morehouse Parish on Thursday and has been identified as Kimberly Vallery from West Monroe.

Details as to what exactly happened have not been released yet, said Morehouse Sheriff Mike Tubbs.

But what is known began to unravel following a string of burglaries in Morehouse Parish. First, a burglary was reported on Monday, Jan. 8 around United Street in Bastrop and then one later on Grabault Road in Bastrop. At the time, Morehouse Parish police were on a hunt for a suspect who was burglarizing homes and sheds in the area.

The suspect, Nathan Pettit Jr. had been on a crime spree ranging across three parish lines: Morehouse, Ouachita, and Union. After burglarizing in Morehouse, he hijacked a woman's car in Union Parish and was later arrested in Ouachita Parish, in West Monroe, after an intense a high-speed chase.

Following the arrest of Pettit, police were informed that there was also a murder involved. The victim, Kimberly Vallery was reported missing by a family member on Sunday, Jan. 7. She had been murdered in West Monroe and her body was taken to a secluded road in Morehouse Parish, where it was left by Pettit and his accomplice, Melissa Ann Moore.

Moore and Pettit are said to have been partners in crime for some time.

Both are currently at Ouachita Parish Correctional Center. Pettit has been charged with one count of second-degree murder. Moore has been charged with one count of accessory after the fact, to second-degree murder and one count of obstruction of justice.
