Limetree Boutique has been providing locals with the latest fashions since 2004, but now, 13 years later, it is closing its doors.
Opened by the Arnett family, it has been a staple around the square since its beginning. The Arnett family has been in retail for years, and when the building next to their jewelry store, Arnett’s, came up for sale in 2004, they bought it, deciding to open a women’s clothing shop.
The shop has been a favorite with locals, selling women’s clothing, shoes, jewelry, and other accessories. They have participated in the town square’s Christmas Open House event, as well as the Witch Way to Main Street Halloween event, for many years. They have been an important and much loved local business.
Unfortunately, due to the economy and family health issues, the Arnett family closed down the store permanently on Saturday, Dec 30. The family enjoyed running the store and serving the community.
“We appreciate the patronage of the people of Bastrop and the surrounding areas,” said owner, Susan Arnett Plonnigs. “We also appreciate everyone shopping locally, as it really makes a difference.”
Though the Limetree Boutique may be closed, the community will never forget its fun take on fashion and the positive impact it had on the town of Bastrop.
