This year, in lieu of the usual team building exercises, a group of employees at Drax Biomass has decided to give back to the community by purchasing Christmas gifts for needy families.

Plant manager Doug Harvey said they usually do things like paint ball for these exercises, but since it is December, they decided to help out local families instead. The employees were all excited to be able to help out as this is their community too.

They got in touch with The Wellspring and adopted three families for the holidays. They were given wish lists and purchased the gifts with company provided funds. The families are anonymous, so they know nothing about them, but Harvey said they are excited to be able to help local children to have a great Christmas.

“Its a good feeling to be able to do something like this and to have a company that supports it as well,” Harvey said.

Harvey said that many of us have experienced the excitement of Christmas when we were younger, and its nice to help other children experience that same feeling.

“The alternative is that they might not have a Christmas, so we are making a difference and that is something to be proud of,” he said

Harvey said The Wellspring will collect the gifts and deliver them sometime after the 15th of December. He said that they will continue doing it in the future, expanding on it as well.
