Beekman, Bastrop and host Sterlington are among the 10 bands scheduled to perform Saturday at Sterlington High School.

Sterlington High School's Panther Pride Marching Band will host its annual Spirit of the Panther Marching Contest on Saturday.

Ten bands will perform in the event, which is scheduled to run from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. An awards ceremony will be held following the competition.

First up is the Beekman Bengal Band at 10 a.m. Selections will include 'Firework,' 'Shut Up and Dance,' and 'Ex's and Oh's.' Drum major is Chelsea Absher, with Nick Irby as drum line captain and Arianah Repp as color guard captain. Instructors are Alex Heikkila, director, and Amanda Heikkila, color guard coordinator.

Next, at 10:15 a.m., the Fightin' Farmer Band of Union Parish High School will perform the 'Music of Journey,' featuring 'Any Way You Want It,' and 'Don't Stop Believing.' Emma Corona is drum major with Caleb Corona as drum line captain. Director is Stewart Felkel.

Up third is the Bastrop High Ram Pride Marching Band at 10:30 a.m., performing 'Caliente,' featuring 'Mambo No. 5,' 'I Need to Know,' 'Smooth,' and 'Oye Como Va.' Chardavian Johnson is drum major, with Cedric Winston and Gwyneth Edwards as drum line captains. Instructors are Gail Griggs (director) and Larry Williams (assistant director).

Caldwell Parish High School's Band of the Spartans will take the field at 10:45 a.m. to perform 'The Darkness Within,' featuring 'Monster, Psycho and Creep.' Harley Caraway is drum major and Marcario Short is the color guard captain. Rachel Morgan is director. Color guard coordinators are Kierra Smith, Shayla Lewis, Phyllis Neal and Kathy Wooten.

At 11 a.m., the Tiger Band of Neville High School will perform selections from 'Tilde,' featuring 'Con Slancio,' 'Perfidia' and 'El Cumbanchero.' Caroline Braswell is drum major, with Westly Hefflin as drum captain and Alle Sanderson as color guard captain. Instructors are Mark Alda, director, Sean O'Pry, assistant director, Matthew Anderson, percussion, and Brittany Scarbrough, color guard.

The Pride of Ouachita from Ouachita Parish High School, which was crowned as champion of the inaugural Spirit of the Panther competition last year, starts the second half of the program at 11:15 a.m. Led by drum captain Joe Bass and color guard captains Samantha Kelly, Jajoya White and Baily Meredith, the band will perform 'Yogi Deera.' Instructors include director James Hodge, assistant director Brian Bass and color guard instructors Rhonda McLaughlin, Jennifer Lofton and Katie Hodge.

Ruston High School's Competition Marching Band will perform 'A-maz-ing,' at 11:30 a.m. Drum majors are Natalie Sims and Cheyenne Specht, with Tim Dosher as drum captain and Megan Griffin as color guard captain. Instructors are Walter Moss, director; Charles Pernici, assistant director; and Brittany Smart, color guard.

At 11:45 a.m., the Pineville High School Rebel Band will perform 'Mirror, Mirror,' under the leadership of drum majors Hailey Coates and Nikki Stewart, drum captain Samuel Band, color guard captains Katelyn Daenen, Briana Beauregard and Isabella Sisneroz. Instructors are Johnny Walker (director), Michael King (brass), James Lormand (percussion) and Stephanie Burroughs (color guard).

West Ouachita High School's Chief of Bands will close out the competition at noon with 'Arabian Nights.' Drum majors are Sarah Owens and Rachel Camp, with Ethan Williams as drum major and Karla Rodriguez as color guard captain. Instructors are director Clif Liner, assistant director Christopher King and color guard coordinator Jenna Covington.

Concluding the program with an exhibition at 12:15 p.m., the Panther Pride Marching Band will perform 'The Samurai and the Maiden. Drum major is Phillip Pham, with Zach Edwards as drum captain, Taylor Hooter as color guard senior leader and Calyn Lamanno and Jermya Wilson as color guard junior leaders. Daniel Mejia Jr. is the director. Student teachers are Mason Howard and Will Hieronymous. Rhonda McLaughlin is color guard coordinator. Alex Noel is the color guard technician. Noah White is the percussion coordinator.
