The Bastrop Police Department and Crime Stoppers of Morehouse are seeking the public's help in identifying a suspect in the robbery of the E-Z Mart store at 1231 N. Washington on Friday, September 29th at around 8:00 P.M.
According to Bastrop Chief of Police Allen Campbell, the Police Department received a call of a robbery at the store on Friday evening. Upon arrival, officers determined that a bald-headed black male suspect, described as wearing sunglasses, a white shirt, blue jeans and with a white towel over his face, approached the clerk and insinuated that he had a weapon and demanded cash. The clerk complied with the demand giving the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect then fled the store on foot. No one was injured in the robbery.
Louisiana law states that it is 1st Degree robbery when, "...the taking of anything of value belonging to another from the person of another, or that is in the immediate control of another, by use of force or intimidation, when the offender leads the victim to reasonably believe he is armed with a dangerous weapon."
