A Bastrop man has been arrested and charged in connection with one home invasion that occurred in Bastrop on Monday afternoon and is a suspect in another home invasion that occurred on Tuesday on Old Bonita Road.

According to Bastrop Chief of Police Allen Campbell, the Bastrop Police Department responded to a report of a home invasion on Hargrove Avenue in Bastrop on Monday afternoon around 4:00 P.M. An elderly woman at the home on Hargrove reported to police that an older white male had knocked on her door and then forced his way inside when she answered the door. The woman was then tied up and assaulted by the man before he took property belonging to the victim and fled the area in a black SUV.

Morehouse Parish Sheriff Mike Tubbs states that Wednesday a resident of Old Bonita Road came to the Sheriff's Office and reported a similar incident that had occurred on Tuesday afternoon around 1:00 P.M. According to Tubbs, in this case, the female victim was also assaulted and the suspect was armed with a handgun. With a description that matched that of the suspect from the home invasion that occurred in Bastrop on Monday, the Sheriff's Office and Police Apartment began a joint investigation into the two incidents.

With the assistance of the Louisiana State Police, the Bastrop Police Department and Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Office developed information that led them to arrest and charge Jerry Lynn Peck, 67 years of age, of Bastrop in connection with the home invasion on Hargrove in Bastrop. While not officially charged in the incident on Old Bonita Road at this time, Peck is a suspect in that home invasion as well.

Peck is incarcerated in the Morehouse Parish Jail and charged with Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Battery, and Armed Robbery. Both investigations continue and additional charges, as well as additional arrests, are possible in the cases.
