The Bastrop Police Department has made an arrest in the December 2016 robbery of Ouachita Independent Bank (OIB) at 1503 E Madison Ave., in Bastrop.

At about 3:50 P.M. on December 14, 2016, police received a call from a bank employee that the bank had just been robbed. According to police, a black male suspect entered the bank and handed a note to the teller that indicated he had a gun. The suspect then fled the bank with an undetermined amount of cash.

According to Bastrop Chief of Police Alan Campbell, Captain Leondrio Reed, a Detective with the Bastrop Police Department has been working on the case since December. Armed with information received in a Crimestoppers tip to the department about the robbery, Reed was able to develop a suspect in the case.

Tuesday morning the Sulphur LA Police Department served a warrant issued by 4th Judicial District Court for Antonio Loyd, 50 years of age, of Lake Charles. Loyd was charged with 1st Degree Robbery as a result of the Bastrop Police investigation into the December OIB robbery.

"Captain Reed did a tremendous job of developing this suspect with the help of a Crimestoppers tip," Campbell said. "He (Reed) never let up which led to the arrest of Loyd."

Loyd is incarcerated in the Calcasieu Parish Jail under a $125,000 bond, pending his extradition to Bastrop for the robbery charge.
