The annual opportunity to help the children of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has presented itself again with a new home to be raffled off in June.
The St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway helps to raise money for the world’s premier pediatric cancer research center by selling $100 tickets for the chance to win a home valued between $200,000 to $700,000. The giveaway also has an array of other prizes including jewelry, shopping sprees, automobiles and groceries.
For several years, Monroe has participated in this giveaway and will again this year.
Several companies donated time, materials and/or services to the construction of the home including residential builder Nicky Kellick, K-104, Regions Bank, KNOE TV8, D&D Cleaners, Northeast Louisiana Association of Realtors, Hancock Fabrics and The Travel Company.
Kellick built a home valued at approximately $240,000 in Frenchman’s Bend in Monroe at 304 Bunker Lane. The French country style house is 1,919 square feet with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It has a two-car garage, granite countertops, custom cabinets and custom landscaping.
The St. Jude Dream Home can be viewed starting Saturday, May 30 during an open house. For every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and every Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. until Sunday, June 21, interested parties can take a look at the soon-to-be raffled-off home.
The house can be found by traveling on Highway 165 and turning onto LA Highway 134, which is a right turn if coming from Monroe.
When on Highway 134, go about one mile and turn right onto Frenchman’s Bend Road. Then turn left on East Frenchman’s Bend Road and right onto Bunker Lane.
While at the open house, you can register to win a $2,500 shopping spree courtesy of Ivan Smith Furniture.
Tickets for the raffle can be purchased now at Regions Bank, D&D Cleaners, Northeast Louisiana Association of Realtors, Hancock Fabrics and The Travel Company for $100. There are 6,000 tickets available, which means one in 500 will win a prize.
Other prizes in the raffle include a five-day Carnival cruise courtesy of The Travel Company, a two-carat diamond tennis bracelet courtesy of Flair Jewelers, a laptop computer courtesy of Wachovia Securities, a family portrait package courtesy of Patty Stewart Photography, flowers for one year courtesy of Mulhearn Flowers, a golf club membership including dues courtesy of Southern Pines Golf Club, dry cleaning for one year courtesy of D&D Cleaners, a $1,000 shopping spree at Hancock Fabrics, $1,000 savings bond courtesy of Marion State Bank, La-Z-Boy recliner courtesy of Burney’s Trend House and a flat screen television courtesy of WalMart.
