With each passing week, the thefts in Morehouse Parish seem to be increasing, and there is no certain target. It appears that everyone’s personal, and professional, items are up for grabs no matter where they are located.
The Bastrop Police Department is working on case for a theft at Bristers Barber Shop. According to the police report, a call came in regarding the theft of several items at 7:47 a.m. Tuesday, June 23. Officer Keesonya Lynch were dispatched minutes later to 640 Colliers Lane.
When they arrived at the shop, officers spoke with the owner who said when he arrived at his shop that morning the front door lock was missing.
The owner said after looking around the shop, he discovered one pair of Andis clippers valued at $85, two pairs of Oster clippers valued at $50, less than a dollar in change, a can of WD40 and a cordless cell phone valued at $30 were missing. The total value is listed as $220.
The shop had been closed since noon on Saturday, and the owner had not been in until that morning.
This crime warrants a simple burglary charge for the suspect or suspects who committed it.
Other thefts that the Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office is working on happened at a residence and a shop.
At 10:17 a.m. Saturday, June 27 at a residence on Patrick Lane, someone broke in and stole a brand new Vizio flat screen television, which was still in the box and valued at $874, and a Playstation 3 game console valued at $400. Several outfits of clothing were also taken from the residence.
On the following day at 4:54 p.m., a shop on Memorial Park Road was broken into. A jigsaw and two weedeaters were taken. These items were valued at approximately $300
