State’s unemployment claims decline

Initial claims for unemployment insurance for the week ending Nov. 26, 2011, decreased to 3,014 from the previous week’s total of 4,558. The decline can be attributed to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Initial claims were below the comparable week ending Nov. 27, 2010, figure of 3,205.

The four-week moving average of initial claims decreased to 3,643 from the previous week’s average of 3,748.

Continued unemployment insurance weeks claimed for the week ending Nov. 26, decreased to 40,027 from the previous week’s total of 40,917. Continued weeks claimed were below the comparable week ending Nov. 27, 2010, figure of 47,156.

The four-week moving average of continued weeks claimed decreased to 40,228 from the previous week’s average of 40,347.
